I'm Not a Bum, Just Been Updating the Website

My parents think I am a lazy teenager: I've been staying up all night and sleeping in till noon. But, it is for a good reason, because I have been updating my website! It's a long tedious process and I don't start to get productive until about 10pm, so I'm sorry you think I'm a bum, but I have some wonderful new (and old) things. I've played around with combining images and going through old weddings which has been quite fun. So, check out my newly updated website, especially the weddings section because that's my favorite. I organized it like a photo essay but using the various weddings I've shot to make one story out of many, which I think turned out nicely. So, go check it out, book me for a sitting, and then maybe my parent's will get off my back while I'm home for the holidays.

Family Pictures in the First Snow

Almost two weeks ago I got to photograph my friend Mary's family. She's one of my manager's sisters and my new adventure buddy who's quickly getting me into rock climbing. We shot on the morning after our first big snow which, naturally, resulted in a snowball fight between the two boys. All throughout the session they were provoking one another which left me with some fantastic pictures of them putting one another in headlocks--the only way to photograph brothers.

Something New: HDR Night Photography

Recently in my digital photography class we learned how to do HDR imaging. Frankly, it grosses me out. It just looks too fake and digital. However, I came to the conclusion that it could be really neat to try to do on night photography to make them look really good. I tried a few pictures and they look a little flat and muddy, but perhaps someone out there knows how I can fix this or via trial and error this might be something cool to play around with. Or maybe not.

Welcome to the Freak Show.

A recent series I did for my digital photography class portfolio of characters from a freak show. The conductor, the bendy woman, the fire breather, and the lion tamer. There are still a few things that I need to work on (ex: the fire), but for the most part I am quite happy with the way they turned out.

Exhibition Extension

As previously mentioned, I have an exhibit up in the BYU library. It was supposed to come down a while ago, but they had me keep it up for a little bit longer. I went through yesterday and my posters had a new addition to them: this yellow banner. I don't know how "popular demand" is measured, but thank you all for going to see my show, and if you haven't yet, you have some more time!

(P.S. these were taken with my camera phone, so don't hate for the terrible quality)

My Heart is Returned to Sister Winter

A week ago we got our first snow. I love first snows because I always get really excited and I pull out my skiis and think that this time around, I'm going to love winter. So I took my camera and walked to school. Don't worry, the novelty of it has already faded and I decided that when I graduate, I'm moving somewhere were it's warm year round.

Christmas Portraits with a Snowman

Yesterday I got to photograph a good friend in the photo department Elise and her husband. She does beautiful work and her husband is the graphic designer who did my advertising for my show that is still up in the BYU library. They wanted photographs for a Christmas card that wasn't their wedding pictures from last year, so I went over to build a snowman in their front yard. We primarily shot on my Holga (which I'm becoming more and more obsessed with) and a few digital. Elise was joking about if I was excited to post these on my blog, and apparently I am because they've gone up so fast. So here are a few favorites and to see more, go here.

Christie Clark's Headshots

A little while back I got to photograph an old friend from back home. She's an acting major here at BYU and needed some headshots. So it was a lot of fun to work with her since I've known here for so long. I also decided that I really love doing headshots, so if you want headshots done, let me know, and I will give you a deal.

The Harris Family

Recently I got to photograph my roommate Sara's family. I was a little nervous because outside of the studio I worked at, this is the most kids I've photographed all at once, but luckily they were amazing and took fantastic pictures for me. I especially love this last one, because it is so funny. When I think of little kids, I think of this.
