I Need an Oponion

Here are two options here for a business card for me. I was told I need one and that it needs to be cool. This is about as cool as I get. Basically not very different, just between blue and green, border or no border. Mabye I can just use this with the two different pictures. That would be cool. And then I wouldn't have to make a decision. But really, let me know what you think.

Playa Rincón

Boasted to be on of the most beautiful beaches in the world, you have to go nearly 10k on an aweful dirt road in which you need 4-wheel drive and the ability to navigate around cattle to get to this secluded spot. The beach is located on the Samana Peninsula in the most northeastern part of the Dominican Republic. Groves of palm trees lead up to the Atlantic Ocean and the most clear fresh water stream I have ever seen goes into the bay.

Caberete

The kiteboarding capital of the world, Caberete. We got in close to sunset on Wednesday night, giving us just enough time to find a hotel and run out to the beach for a swim and some photos. We then enjoyed a delicious meal at a bar underneath a hotel right on the beach.

Idea for something amazing about to come

So I just found this link and I've been really facinated since then with this concept. A group of photographers in St. Louis got together, threw darts at a map and had a month to make an image from that location. I think this could be amazing to do in Provo. Because it would get everybody involved in the arts for one, and for two Provo is really interesting and people don't really realize it. I think I may try to recreate this in Provo. Except I would allow any medium and not just realistic, but allow even feelings people have for the area they got. Photography, watercolor, painting, sculpture, video, whatever. Could be extremely interesting. Would get people out. It would be amazing. I will continue to think about this and make it happen.

Self Portrait: Week 5

It's been wild. I'm back in Santo Domingo after an amazing week with new amazing friends.
So many pictures to come.

But today is Monday, which means self portrait monday.
This was taken in Punta Cana.. which is not exactly a town, but a region of resorts. Here we were in The Sanctuary at Cap Cana.. a five star resort and probably the nicest in the country. I was making a portrait for Bill for his website and sometimes I get crazy. This was one of those moments. I was laying on a walkway taking a picture and started busted out laughing. Bill then took the camera and took this picture. Don't know if it counts, but I'm counting it as my self portrait.

Coffee Sneak Peek (and exciting news!)

today I got a wonderful tour by the owners of MotoCaribe that have been so generous of taking me around Jarabocoa and showing me everything these last two days. today was the Day of Coffee. We went to her cousin's factory and plantation. I'm working on a photo essay that will show up here in the next while of the whole process. but there will be a small delay.. because somehow I managed to convince the travel channel (!) that I should go on a tour of the country with the two boys they sent down here! So my photos will quite possily be up on their site soon. Woo! So I'm off to go all over this beautiful country for the next week. Perhaps I'll report when I have the internet, but who knows when I'll have it. they don't really have any plans of where we're going or staying.. so it will defentally be an adventure!

Self Portrait Week 4

the Colonial Zone 2

this is what I really spent my time doing when I went to the Colonial Zone.

the first photograph is of Juanita, 90 years old. She made me sit on her stoop and chat with her for nearly thirty minutes before she would let me photograph her. I somehow managed to keep up a conversation in Spanish about our families and lives. She was absolutely fascinating and beautiful. then the two girls came by, wanting their photo taken and so of course I did. they then talked to me for a while as we walked around the streets, taking me on a tour of their little area.
