Tattooed Train

I think all trains in the world look like this, some a little more advanced than others, but yet they all wear the same decoration.

I'm hanging a show today in Cafe on 1st in Salt Lake City (1st Ave and I-Street). It'll have some newer pieces that I haven't put old for sale yet, but also the cafe is just really great. Then, I am off to Zion's National Park for a few days, so if you need me, you'll just have to wait until Wednesday.

The Good, The Bad, and London.

So I figured out the whole energy situation, and so now I am good to go! However, I haven't shot a thing on digital since getting to Bosnia. Minor issue which can easily be resolved. I also don't want to spend hours infront of my computer editing...so who knows how much you'll actually see until I come back, sorry about that. We'll see how much I end up getting on here in the next month. But I'll have some old posts that have been needed to be posted as well as some new stuff. So stay tuned.

Jet lagged, 4:30am, London.

The Historic Columbia River Highway, Oregon

The first planned scenic highway in the US, this road goes up to Crown Point (the last image) and then back down through turnoffs for a ton of waterfalls, including the most famous (and full of tourists), Multnomah Falls. There are other places to hike all around it, including my favorite, the Oneonta Gorge. There's also a place to camp close to the end of the loop, Ainsworth State Park, and it is great with places to hike into camp but also hook up sites, where I stayed on my drive back. And both are right off the 84, so it's not difficult to get to.

Tree Farming

A tree farm in eastern Oregon, taken from out my car window. Possibly known as GreenWood Tree Farm.

One day I woke up thinking I was going to fly to Portland

Ends up you can't rent a car without your driver's license.
Luckily I figured this out right before (as in 2 hours) before going to the airport so I packed up my car and hit the road. I have a wedding to photograph on Tuesday, and good thing I'm a dedicated human begin and always down for a good trip. It's been wild, drove out, picked Ryan Cason up at the airport, hiked some waterfalls, camped on the coast, hiked some more waterfalls in the Gorge, showered in the gas station, and just finally got into Portland (hence the internet access now). I've mainly shot film, so it'll be a while for some pictures, but here are some from the drive out. More to come.

Oregon Bound.

Goodbye, I am off to Oregon for a while as of today. I will be photographing a wedding in Portland on Tuesday and before that I will be going into the wild and going on a mini road trip throughout the whole area, going to the coast and the Gourge/Hood River areas. So be looking for pictures, stories, and lots of pictures to come once I come back or find internet connection.

(Images from a day trip I went on over Thanksgiving break through southeast Utah--twice in the same week. I enjoyed it that much.)

Art Deco Boardwalk

It snowed all weekend, which has resulted in me looking through pictures I took in Miami a month ago, more specifically that middle image which told the temperature and then comparing it to the snow outside. I had forgotten that I took so many pictures of the buildings there. They were really neat with a specific style. I have a million, so I'm sure you'll be seeing more soon, especially if this weather keeps up.

Oh and in case you were wondering: today is my birthday and I am now 22.

The Subway, Zion's National Park, Utah

A while back, as in about 7 months ago, I hiked this slot canyon in Zion's National Park. It's been a while since then and my recent essay due on Karl Marx has inspired me to edit and upload pictures from this trip. I did a post a while back, but figured I should do a complete photo essay.

Announcement: Bosnia 2010

Dear friends, family, and people of the web,
I have an announcement to make: I am going on another photo adventure this summer, this time to Bosnia. I know many of you are concerned about the idea that it is a war zone and extremely dangerous, but really, it has been war free form 15 years (the purpose of me going). Also, Bosnia is in Eastern Europe (see map below) and not in Africa or South America (both of which I have been told it is where it is at). I'll be in Sarajevo, aka the Jerusalem of Europe, for a month or so at some point in the summer. It should be epic.

(not my picture, but this is the city)

My Perfect World

My most recent assignment was to composite an image of my perfect world. I used 7 images to create this one, modeling it after one of my favorite composite photographers, Al Magnus. My idea would to be in a world in which I could just tare off backdrops and be in different places as I please. Apparently I have been extremely anxious lately to get out.

Travel Photo of the Day on Kathika

Every day Kathika.com has a travel photo of the day. Generally it's people from their team that post their images or they get images they find on flicker. Today, however, I sent them a link to my blog and one of my images from the Dominican Republic is their daily pick. So go check it out!

Musee Mecanique [The Mechanical Museum], San Francisco.

I'm not exactly sure what kind of game that first one is, but apparently it's an arcade game from some point in time when it was appropriate to abuse children? Nonetheless, sweet but creepy museum off of fisherman's wharf.

Also. I need ideas for upcoming photo projects. Such as religious conflict in Sarajevo and what not. If you know of something, or just want to tell me a sweet place to go, let me know. Thanks, I'm stumped.

The Subway

Yesterday I went to Zions National Park to hike this canyoneering treck known as The Subway. It's roughly 9 miles up and down a mountain, through a river, repelling, and climbing over rocks through a slot canyon. It's known as The Subway because, well, it looks like one once you descend into the canyon.

Dominican Food

Just a few photographs I found recently of various food I ate in the Dominican Republic. The first one is a traditional breakfast plate while the second is the traditional lunch (or sometimes even dinner) plate. The last two are at a resort I had lunch at in Jarabacoa.

On my way to visit my older brother and sister-in-law in Carrizo Springs, Texas.

Reno

Reno should be renamed "The Weirdest Little City in the World", because if you want to get approached by guys showing you their colonoscopy bags and have waiters tell you they're having a hard time speaking because they recently got stabbed--you're in the right place. Granted, it was 1am while all this happened, but there are still weird vibes here. Got to love this place, though.

Saaamana!

Because you can never go wrong with Samana, not only the most primitive but the most northeastern part of the island, Hispaniola. If you were to imagine the Caribbean, you would imagine Samana.
