Festival of Colors II and Website Update

Just a few from the Festival of Colors, just in case you have forgotten by now how epic it was. I have a new function on my site where you can order prints now, not just from events, but general prints for sale that I have done. So be sure to check out other photographs from the Festival of Colors as well as other ones I have for sale by clicking here.

Holi: The Festival of Colors

For those who don't know what this is all about, Holi is the Hindu festival that celebrates the start of spring. A bonfire is lit, burning an effigy of Holika, representing evil spirits. As the bonfire is lit, the colors begin to fly. The colors in Spanish Fork are dyed chalk, but in other places can range from anything from pastels to colored water. During the festival, which spans a few days, different waves of radience go throughout the universe, creating a wide span of colors that "nourish and complement the funciton of repective elements in the atmosphere", and thus the throwing of colors. The festival today in Spanish Fork is apparently the largest in North America, and rumor has it that over 10,000 people were there today.

Plenty more to come, but I thought I'd better post something from today's events of epic proportions. I will try not to get too carried away and post a million, because I know that people hate seeing so many after the festival when facebook is taken over by photos from today. So I will try to spare your eyes and only post a few.

Freedom Festival

A few months ago, in the days in which it was warm and we rode bikes and bought lemonade from stands ran by little girls in South Provo, there was a 4th of July festival. I took this photo and have been working on it on and off ever since, trying new ways to make it look good because I really love how it feels. I also love how it's 48 outside so my front door is open to air out winter from our house because I want to pretend it is summer.

jumping on the bandwagon.

i'm doing it. a blog. i am now cool. but not really at the same time. i just want a place to put my photos. a way of documenting my progress but also to show some of my adventures since working as a photojournalist. let's back track to some of my favorite photos from these last few months.

this one is mainly for julie. because she has a photo on her blog of these guys in jerusalem.
the geex show. by far the nerdiest thing i have had to do yet: a three day gaming convention. people dressed up, refusing to leave the 72-hour lan party and intend on playing their game for all 72 hours of it. if i've ever felt out of place it was there.

the spanish fork kite festival.
i find something really beautiful about these girls and this photo and i am not quite sure why.

more to come. as in about ten minutes from now there will be another blog. i just feel like i should space out these photos more...by making more blog posts. [that way i also look like i've been doing this for forever]
